GET AFTER IT

THE PATH TO BECOMING SMARTER, STRONGER, HEALTHIER, AND BETTER

FOLLOW A CODE OF CONDUCT

Throughout history there have been many awesome codes created by tons of different groups. Each one is unique to the group that it belongs to. My Uncle Jake—a real life Navy SEAL!—taught me the things I need to focus on to become a Warrior Kid. One of those things was to have a code to live by. That's when I came up with the Warrior Kid Code.

You can follow my Warrior Kid Code and even change it to fit into your life! You can create your own code, too. But just remember: Codes are meant to push you to become smarter, stronger, healthier, and better!"

PRACTICE DISCIPLINE

Discipline comes from within. It comes from YOU. It's about following rules that YOU set for YOURSELF. It's about doing things that are difficult and hard in the moments . . . but that make you stronger, smarter, and better in the long run.

Warrior kids don't hit the snooze button—they wake up early!

DO THE RIGHT THING

Uncle Jake helped me understand that deep inside of each of us Warrior Kids— regular kids, pretty much EVERYONE—there is a universal understanding of what the 'right thing' and 'doing the right thing' means:

  • It's about being a good person as much as you can in everything that you do.

  • It's means being good and kind to other people and it means being good and kind to yourself

  • It's about knowing the difference between right and wrong and having the discipline to choose to DO RIGHT—even if its hard."

bust 'em!

Warrior Kids work hard to be strong and fit! We do lots of exercise, physical activity, and sports. That way when we need to 'Get after it!' or 'Bust 'em!' or 'Get some!', we're ready!

You know what’s awesome about getting after it through exercise, sports, and martial arts? It makes you stronger in tons of ways:

• Makes you a stronger leader.

• Makes your brain stronger.

• Gives you more confidence.

• Improves your humility.

• Improves your problem solving.

• Helps you make awesome friends.

• Creates a powerful sense of “team.”

ON THE MATS ON THE PATH

Warrior Kids train a martial art so they  know how to defend themselves, stand up to bullies, and protect the others! There are many different martial arts arts—ach one uses different skills and techniques. They all have some strong points, but my favorite is jiu-jitsu!

It takes tons of practice to get good and it can be intimidating when you first start. The first day Uncle Jake brought me in I was scared—I thought I was a DEAD MAN! You might feel like that too when you begin.

But you know what? Everyone else in the gym got through their first day of training and lived to tell about it. AND they’re still going and getting better! AND every person at your jiu-jitsu class is going to help you get better and push you to be better and be more confident! AND you’re going to meet some really great people and make awesome friends!

TRAIN
your brain

"Everyone always thinks of warriors as being strong. And that is true—warriors exercise and eat healthy, STRONG foods so they make their bodies as strong as possible. But guess what? That is only HALF of being a warrior! The other half is training our minds so we are as smart as we can be.

Warriors have to learn how to learn, know how to make 'boring' lessons fun, and, most importantly, READ!"

TRAIN YOUR BRAIN

Books are a Warrior Kid's best friend. STAY CURIOUS!

FUEL

Warrior Kids need to fuel up with good, clean, and healthy foods—STRONG foods. Strong foods fuel our bodies and fuel our minds! They help make us perform better at sports and martial arts and keep our thinking sharp and clear—and they feed into a positive attitude.

Weak foods, like junk foods—candy, cake, chips, french fries—can make our bodies tired, our brains foggy, and fuel a crabby attitude.

What makes a strong food strong:

  • It was grown in the earth, on the ground, or in a tree

  • It's ingredients provide the body with protein

  • It ingredients provides the body with fiber

  • Its ingredients provides the body with vitamins and minerals

Is it just me or are these foods stalking me right now?

HAVE FUN!

Just because getting on the Warrior Kid Path takes effort and hard work doesn’t mean it shouldn’t be fun. Warrior Kids are still kids! Kids should have fun! If you find while you’re on The Path that you’re not having fun, the first thing you should do is ask yourself why? Maybe it’s because what you’re doing seems, well… boring. Maybe it seems repetitive. Maybe it seems too easy. Maybe it seems too difficult. Maybe you’re too tired or maybe your body is sore. These are all valid reasons. After all, when you’re pushing yourself to be smarter, stronger, healthier, you can take it all too seriously.

When that happens REMEMBER to keep it loose! Turn learning, martial arts, exercising, cleaning your room into a game. Joke around! Be kid and have FUN!

LET'S DO THIS!!
